Hyundai Extends Warranties Through June 30 Due to Coronavirus

Hyundai is responding to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic by offering additional protection to customers with expiring warranties. Effective immediately, any Hyundai new vehicle limited warranties and powertrain limited warranties that would have expired between March and June are good through June 30, 2020.

Warranty Extension

Every new Hyundai comes with America’s Best Warranty, which includes a five-year/60,000-mile new-vehicle limited warranty and 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain limited warranty. If your coverage under either or both warranties was set to expire between March and June of this year, Hyundai has extended that coverage until the end of June.

Hyundai estimates that more than 1.2 million vehicles in 175 countries are eligible to take advantage of its warranty extension. If you qualify, Hyundai should have already contacted you with the details of the program.

 “With these warranty extensions, we wish to set their [Hyundai customers’] minds at ease regarding eligibility for warranty repairs and related services in the coming months,” said Hyundai Motor Company Executive Vice President and Head of Customer Experience Division Wonhong Cho. “Not only do we care about our customers’ health and safety, we care about the ‘health’ and safety of their vehicles as well.”

Other Assistance Programs

Extending warranty coverage is just one of the many ways Hyundai is looking out for people. Another example is Hyundai Assurance Job Loss Protection, which covers up to six months’ worth of payments if you lost your job as result of COVID-19 and purchased your new vehicle through Hyundai Motor Finance between March 14, 2020-May 17, 2020. If you purchase a new Hyundai through June 1 through Hyundai Motor Finance, you can qualify for 0 percent APR financing and deferred payments for the first 90 days.
