Hyundai makes Wards 10 Best Engines and Propulsion Systems list - Gossett Hyundai South - Memphis, TN

For the second year in a row, Wards is recognizing Hyundai for its impressive engines. Two Hyundai engines have earned coveted spots on the 2020 Wards 10 Best Engines and Propulsion Systems list, demonstrating the automaker’s commitment to offering innovative, fuel-efficient engines.

2020 Hyundai Sonata

The new Smartstream 1.6-liter Turbocharged engine available for the 2020 Sonata made the list for its balance of power and efficiency. The engine delivers 180 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque, while also reaching an EPA-estimated 36 mpg on the highway.* The engine utilizes Continuously Variable Valve Duration technology, which helps make for a more eco-friendly sedan.

2020 Hyundai Kona Electric

WardsAuto also recognized the powertrain of the 2020 Kona Electric, which has also landed a spot on the list before. The powertrain is capable of producing 201 horsepower and 291 lb-ft of torque. Furthermore, it gives the SUV an EPA-estimated driving range of 258 miles.**
